In the 18th century, the game experienced enormous development in all segments of society.They were played in royal courts, aristocratic salons, by the "bourgeoisie" but also in pubs, cabarets and of course casinos
The prince bishop obliged the magistrate in 1762 to open a room especially for games of chance.
While games were banned in the town of Spa during the French occupation in 1794, Napoleon signed a decree 12 years later to allow gambling to begin again.
Due to the success of La Redoute (former name of the Casino de Spa) and despite a gaming privilege – La Redoute was the only room authorized to organize games of chance – two other rooms were added at the end of the 18th century: the Waux-Hall and the Levooz lounge.
The competition was fierce and was the basis of the quarrel of games at Spa in 1785.This quarrel was also partly at the origin of the Liège Revolution which broke out in 1789 following the French Revolution.
Recognized for their experience and their mastery of the games, the croupiers of Spa were invited to train the croupiers of the Casino de Monaco, opened 100 years after the Casino de Spa.
